Windshield Height Preference

Hello all fellow riders. I am hoping you can help me. I just purchased and installed a Memphis Big Shot windshield on my Honda Shadow Phantom. However, when I sit on the bike, I am looking through the windshield and not over it. On my old bike, I looked over the windshield. So my question is, what is your preference for riding with a windshield? My windshield has a quick release so I can remove it for short trips and just touring around our area and then I can put it on for long rides. Would love to hear from everyone about your preference and experience. I am on the fence of replacing it with a Memphis Pop Top before I take her out of the garage and take her for first 2014 ride :) Thanks everyone. Safe riding!

Over the windshield

Hi Bonnie,
Since 1999,I've been riding with a fullface helmet and no windshield.I've done some major trips and decided I could no longer deal with the interstate "winds" pushing my head back, or being stuck in traffic in sweltering heat with a fullface helmet. This spring, my husband installed a windshield on my bike. The shield had some adjustment options. After trying out the options, I decided it was more comfortable to look over the windshield.

Windshield Height

I much prefer looking over the windshield. Yours can be cut down if you like. When riding in the rain I especially like being able to look over the shield.

Over or Through

Hi,

My Shadow Spirit has the Memphis Slim. I struggled to make that decision too. ...over or through. I ultimately decided it was better to see over as I have either glasses or a face shield on already. And if I were to look through the windshield I would be looking through two layers and therefore my view would not be as crisp. The air goes over the windshield so it does what it is supposed to do.

I really love the looks of the Memphis Shades. Enjoy your riding season!

windshield height preference

Hi Bonnie, I am also an island rider! I have a windshield on my VTX. A rock took a little chip out of the edge of my windshield last year so I had it cut down by about 2" to get rid of the chip and found that I much prefer to be looking just over the top of my windshield. Much better vision! I still get the wind protection and most bugs that don't hit the shield are deflected over my head. Hope this helps!
