Victory Motorcycles - Please tell me about your Victory....

by Tara
(Melbourne, Australia)

I'm only allowed to ride a 250 til I get my full license - That's how it is here in Australia. However, the minute I get my license, I would love to walk into the local Victory shop and take one of those babies out for a spin. I love their lines and design. Are there any ladies out there currently riding Victories? Please tell me about your bikes and what bling you have added, also, how they handle, and what you rode before you got it. I've seen heaps of women on here with big bikes, and if I can show my boy that we girls can handle something that big, he might just let me get one.

My choice...My 8ball NEW
by: Anonymous

Im in Australia too!....ive been riding a Kymco Venox 250 as my first bike and it was a great choice, awesome to learn on, i get my full license at the end of September, i bought a new Victory Vegas 8ball and shes waiting in my shed!...i fell in love with this bike the first time i saw it, i read an article on womenridersnow about a short and small girl that rides an 8ball easily, so that gave me all i needed to get my own, she loved how nimble and quick the 8ball is as well as its great centre of gravity....go for it, i did and i cant wait to ride her 😆

Love my Kingpin
by: Cambee

I ride a 2007 Victory Kingpin Custom and I wouldn't ride anything else. I started small and worked my way up but now I love her. She is my pride and joy. A lot of women here in Nova Scotia, Canada ride Victory and it doesn't matter your size, you control the bike it does not control you. Go for it, you will love Victory and will never look back. I promise!

Not Prepared To Gamble
by: Gordon

I am 66 and have owned a number of Japanese m/c most of which were great with the exception of a
new Suzuki GSX 1100G I bought which was a lemon!!!needless to say I never bought another Suzuki again. Anyway to continue, I would really like to buy another bike but was bored with the choice of m/c on the market, just recently started to look at Victory m/c BUT AFTER READING THE HUNDREDS OF BAD REVIEWS relating to engine gearbox clutch electrics and other things there is NO WAY I am going to take a chance with this m/c. When will people ever learn, don't use the buying public to test product, it is rather apt that Victory m/c names relate to gambling, unfortunately Victory YOU LOSE!!!!

motorcycle made from scrap metals.
by: Prevoius owner

Had previously owned a 2011 vegas. (Australia) Never, ever again. I love motorcycles and have had many since my early teens. If you are an enthusiast then stay clear of these machines. If it was made to correct specifications from quality metals and was not assembled in America it may have been a resonable bike. Once purchased and the problems start you will be ripped blind and told lies by incompetent mechanics and the continual denial of any responsibilities by the dearlers and company. Even to the point of blaming the owner, espeacialy if you are far more informed and experienced then the are. Good luck if you buy one. You will need it.

In love with a Victory
by: Nana

I just sat on a Victory Highball last weekend and I'm in LOVE! It's smaller and shorter than the other Victory motorcycles, but it still has that great Victory engine.

I have been riding a Suzuki Boulevard C50 since I got my license in June. At first I thought it was too big, but now the 800cc engine just doesn't have the pick up for long highway miles that I want to do. I'm constantly looking for 6th gear.

I'm not sure how I'm going to finance it yet, but a Victory Highball is definitely in my future. I need to get a test drive set up, but I'm afraid if I ride it I won't be able to be sensible and wait.

Good luck!

Good looking bikes
by: Jess

Hi. My boyfriend has a 2011 Vegas. While it looks good he has had nothing but trouble with it. Usually transmission being hard to shift and lots of clattering noises throughout motor. It is ok until engine is hot and then it starts becomming a problem. No support from company or dealer. A poor motorcycle!

Love My Vegas
by: Cindy

Hi Tara,

I am 54 yrs old and I live in the USA, not far from Kansas City, Kansas. I have a 2005 Vegas that I bought new. I had a Suzuki Marauder 800 that I traded in. My Vegas is much bigger than my Suzuki but handles so much better. My hubby, also, has a Victory...2005 8 ball. We have ridden to Sturgis, several different rallies and in the Smokie Mountains recently. I can ride 300+ miles in a day and feel great after getting off my bike. I had mine lowered not long after getting it but now they have the Vegas Low for shorter people. Price wise, they are very affordable. Maintenance wise, we have not had any problems. The only thing we have done to either bike is tires and tune ups.

Go to your local dealer, test ride it and see for yourself that it is a wonderful motorcycle and a great ride. Don't be mislead by naysayers regarding the quality & cost of the Victory. You will be riding when others have theirs in the shop!!! This comes from personal experience!!

Good Luck!

Riding Large Bike
by: Karen

Hi Tara,

I am a 57yr old Nanna from Northern NSW who rides a Harley Street Rod 1130cc. I am 63kg on a good day and about 5'7" and don't consider myself to be overly large. So if I can ride a large bike anyone can, so long as you can stop in an emergency it is just like your smaller bike but a lot more fun. Just remember most guys with large bikes can not pick their bike up by themselves if they dropped it, they are just to heavy. I hope this helps you.

Keep upright!

Victory Vegas
by: Harriet

My hubby has a Victory Vegas Jackpot and LOVES it! I've ridden it several times myself, and could definitely enjoy it. It's slimmer than my Honda VTX, less bulky, and weighs less. Hubby now wants a Cross Country, which he drove at a dealer test drive event last week. Check their website for test drive schedule.

I'm seriously considering replacing my VTX with a Kingpin that I found locally from a private owner. The VTX has been fun, but after 2 hours, I'm not comfortable, and too hot. I think a slimmer bike with a comfortable seat would be better for me.

I said woah! Dang it!
by: Anonymous

Howdy, Tara.

Well, I ain't a lady, nor do I have a Victory.
So my comment may be unwelcome or off-target.
But I wanted to chime in on the subject of upgrading in general. My wife and I are real REAL new at all this motorcycle stuff (barely out of the safety course).

I'm 6'1" 185 pounds, and at least I like to call myself athletic. So I thought I was ready for some heft. I now know that above 15 miles per hour...it's a bike....pretty much the same as the Eliminator. But as speeds get below 15mph, the differences becomes much more noticeable. The slower you go, the heavier it feels.

Little mistakes like needing to put my foot down in a tight turn on the 125cc were not tolerated as patiently by my 805cc. Rather than righting the bike and helping me stay stable in the turn, the weight of the 805 tried to push me out of the saddle when my foot hit the ground, and that changed my grip angle which in-turn effected my stability.

There are lots of ladies, quite a few "girls" and even some kids that have no trouble handling bikes that are MUCH bigger than ours, so I am confident that with practice, we'll be fine. But the point behind this hole story is....When transitioning from anything to anything...take it slow and easy. Take time to explore the differences so that you can be prepared to handle them when they arise at inopportune times. ALWAYS have a plan.

I'm fully prepared for my wife to mount-up and have no trouble at all. But at the same time, I will cringe as she works through the "getting to know you" phase with the C50T and hope that the learning curve doesn't have a learning curb. But she's a lot smarter than I am, so I doubt there will be any problems.

Similarly the Victory is a lot heavier and stronger than you are. But you are smarter than it is. Use that to your advantage and I bet you'll be fine. :)

Sorry for the long, rambling "contribution" that might not be on topic, but I thought it might have some vague relevance.

My Victory
by: Sally

Hi Tara,

Well my Vic was a long time coming, but well worth the wait. Have a 2010 Cross Road, and just love it. Came off a Kawasaki 900 Classic LT, which was also a great bike, (but it didn't fit the traveling I do, or want to do). Had a HD Sportster before the Kawi, but had too much mechanical problems with it, not to mention as stock, it wasn't very comfortable for more than a 2 hr ride. The Kawi was much more comfortable.

I ride as soon as weather permits and is safe (in NE USA) and until it doesn't or isn't LOL! I put more miles on my bikes than my car per yr. The Cross Road really fits the bill for me. Handles well around town, and is like a Lazy Boy recliner out on the highway. She has great saddle bags as well, so I get a kick out people at the grocery store gawking at me fitting everything!

Haven't added any bling, (which can be pricey for the Vics, but you can find aftermarket if you search the net), spend my $ on luggage, and gas!

Ask your dealer about a Test Drive. Victory offers them all over the USA, so I would hope you could find one in Australia.

The King Pin (which my husband has) is a great bike as well. It's a cruiser that'll upgrade to a bagger easily. And definitely a hot rod!

Good luck in your search!

Keep the shiny side up!

Victory
by: Lynn - Florida

The Victories are beautiful motorcycles. I'm only 5' 2" and found they req'd too much alternation for my height. I think it's a good idea that they limit beginners to 250cc while learning. It also builds confidence mastering a smaller bike first. Please post a picture of your new Victory or whatever you decide to buy.
