Suzuki GXSR 750 K7
by Gabriela
Well, this is my current bike after trying a handful in quite a range. Including a ZZR 600 which is the most comfortable ride I've had the pleasure of touring with. Alas, the Gixxer is fast, furious and incredibly responsive, so I'm in heaven at present. It's light, which is what I took quite some time researching and was my main point. 163 Kilo is all. I'm short and unfit, so it suits me. The ZZR has an extra 23 Kilo to it and you know that when you mis-judged where you put your short legs and the leaning angle is one hell of a muscle strain to hold! I had a cruiser for a while too, a Vulcan 800 which was a smooth machine and I could throw anyone on the back without thinking (managed a six foot two Rugby player as pillion without breaking a sweat, compared to a fine balancing act on a sports bike. Wouldn't risk taking anyone heavier than mself, lighter preferrably)At present I can say the GSXR is the best bike for me, despite the crouched position leaving it's strain. Though I lie down flat on the tank for comfort and it eases things. Have yet to ride several hours in one go. Since I'm based in Ireland, several hours ride would give me a full tour of the Island, so it's unlikely I'll get to use my bike to it's full capacity. Roads are best described as Dutch Gouda, full of holes, so speed is not something I get to experience much. Alas, for commuting through insane Dublin traffic it's a brilliant bike and on the few days it isn't raining, the lack of straight speed ways is certainly made up for by some beautiful curves through amazing countryside, so I guess I'll enjoy this one for a while yet. Not sure if I'll take the bike over on the continent for touring as it's not designed for saddeling up. On the other hand.... do I need more than a tooth brush and a credit card?????
