Silk or Satin Scarf

by Leigh Box
(Jackson, MS)

I have been using a silk scarf under my helmet. I look rather like Doris Day with the ends flying out behind me but this seems to help with helmet hair.

Hi!
I read your helmet scarf dilemma, and here is what I did:

Simply fit the scarf into your helmet loosely, pressing into the helmet in all areas. Like a liner.

Cut the material that is left over and sticking out, leaving a two inch border.

Take the material out and trim and fold the border to be able to catch the frayed edges.

Fit the material back into the helmet ("good" pattern facing you) and hot glue gun the edges to the helmet. Press the edges with your fingers. You are putting the glue onto the underside of the border, so when completed, you wouldn't even know the scarf is glued in. Voila.

Then when it's off, I use a cute hat, and always wear interesting earrings. Spray a little water on your hair to poof it up. SMILE!
