Scala Rider G9 motorcycle helmet intercoms

by TammyT

These things are The Bomb. My husband and I ride on separate bikes, but these work for folks who ride 2up also. They attach to half, 3/4, or full-face helmets and work with voice activation. You can also sync up your bluetooth phone, and with a cord, your ipod if you are so inclined to listen to music, personally I'm not into music while I ride. All is voice activated and hands free for safety. I don't know how we lived without these things before. I can tell hubby which way I want to turn or if my bike is making a funny noise. He can tell me I left my turn signal on again,or to pull off for some reason, etc. The new G9 version can also be quickly linked to up to 8 other headphones too for traveling with a larger group of bikes (hence the G9 designation, the previous G4 could only handle a group of 4 units). It also supposedly has a range over a mile. We travel in the mountains, and in the twisties with a lot of hills and trees I can testify that we haven't gotten out of range in almost half a mile of mountain and a ton of trees in between us. The voice detection works well and it adjusts to the ambient noise, turning up the volume of the speakers as needed to cover the noise of the wind and motor. They have a ton of features we haven't even tried yet. Check them out.

I echo the praise!!

My husband was reluctant to buy and wear our headsets, but I made a believer out of him. Countless pros to wearing them. We started with the Scala brand, and have since switched over to Sena, which for us, work much better. Every "couple," whether your ride together on one bike, but definitely if you each ride you own, NEEDS to use headsets like these. They can save your life given different situations. We'll never be without them when we ride.

Cost
by: TammyT

I'm the original poster about the Scala G9... initially the cost of the G9 seemed SOOOOO high at approximately $500 for a pair. We found a deal on a pair of them on e-bay They were being sold for $380 or make an offer and we offered $340. Our offer was accepted. Now the G9 is the latest and greatest, but I'm sure that the G4 or another cheaper model could be found on sale much cheaper and would meet most people's needs just fine. No need to spend that much for most of the same features. Just wanted to answer that question before it came up.

I agree!

We use these intercoms also. It's wonderful because we can change our plans while we're riding. My husband usually rides in front of me and warns me of pot holes and such.

There is much road construction near our home. The pavement is always changing. One rut in the road is the perfect size to grab my front tire. Hubby always reminds me of it.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the intercoms!
