We are a group of women bikers from India and belong to the club, The Bikerni.
In September 2011, 10 of us rode to the highest motorable road in the world, Khardung La - Ladakh, at 18,350ft above sea level. Vrooming on our RE 500cc Classic Bullets, it was a moment of glory, not only in our lives but in the history of Biking in India.
It is 18,380mts.
This was the first time that such a large group of women had undertaken the feat of conquering a male-dominated destination!
Khardung La is the mecca of motorcyclists throughout the world and many groups come to India to romance the Himalayas and conquer the sexy but dangerous curves of the route.
For me, at a personal level, at the age of 53, this was a life-long dream come true and I feel proud to be a part of this fabulous group.
