Need a new pair of boots.

by Raven
(N. Alabama)

I'm curious what other experienced women riders wear. I'm big on safety and normally wear steel toe work boots that look like the ones EMTs wear, but I have a hard time finding those as well. Any suggestions?

Love my boots
by: Jeanne

When I first started riding I invested in a pair of women's Harley Davidson boots. They have plenty of ankle support, tread, oil and water slip resistance and are very comfortable. They are not cheap, but they are worth the investment when you put your feet down on an oily slick pavement!

Tall Boots
by: Nik

I am trying to find boots with no, or minimal heel. I am 5’10” with a 35”inseam. Most women’s boots I find have a heel, but I don’t need that. It will actually make me too tall for the bike. Oh and I don’t want them to weigh 10 pounds either. We travel a lot and like to stop at national parks or any unique tourist trap along the way. I don’t want to change my shoes at every stop. Any ideas? ?

think about your ankles.
by: Ravenlore

There are lots of boots marketed as purpose-made motorcycle boots that have no ankle impact protection whatsoever. MOSTLY in the cruiser and touring categories.

Eh, it's somthin' to think about.

Boots of choice
by: Harleymartha

I prefer to wear Shift motorcycle shoes, but they are being phased out for road gear due to lack of sales. These fit like tennish shoes, but have reinforced toes and ankles. They have velcro across the laces and the "grip strips" on the toe for the shifter. In the past I have worn combat boots, I like the desert weight with waffle soles (they had some height since I'm short.) I usually found that most of the Harley boots were heavy and not comfortable for a day of walking and riding. That's my two cents

new boots
by: liz

i wear wolverine boots that are lace up the front with a double buckle over the top to keep the laces out of the way. i have worn them for about 12 years or so. only thing is that is does not have the extra piece of leather on the toe for the gear shift. i had the cobbler put one on for me as womens boots tend not to have that feature. plus the men's boots that have the extra piece do not come small enough for me.
good luck
