Me & Lucy

I just traded in my Suzuki 250 for this 883 Custom on Monday (today is Thursday) Tonight was my first time to get aquainted with her (While im 5"8, she previously belong to a guy 6"4 ish so I needed the foot controls adjusted) I am NOT a natural on a motorcycle. Im a 2nd year rider who needed lots of practice to be safe and comfortable on the road. We had a great time in the park tonight!! She's WAY more powerful than my 250 but I think with some practice, Lucy and I will be safe in the real world!!

Good for you! I should have started out with a 250 but got a Sportster 1200 as my first bike never having rode before. :)
I was enjoying it very much, did 6 months of parking lot practice before getting my license. Took the MSF course a month after I got the bike but failed the skills test so that's when I did the 6 months of parking lot practice. Now I am sitting at home with a severely broken leg after somehow wrecking during a left hand turn. I do not know what happened! The rider that happened to be standing on the sidewalk where I landed said I gave it too much throttle. So I am wondering if the bike was too powerful for a beginner. I wanted something that would do the job for me for a long time - didn't want to have to be trading it in. But thinking now maybe too much power for me to start out with. Since I am not really sure how I wrecked, I really don't have an answer. I heard a siren and I know I was trying to get out of the intersection as quickly as I could but it happened so fast I don't even remember what I did to do it! Enjoy Lucy and ride safe!

Nice! That's what I need to do too, I have a Honda Rebel 250 and would like to trade it in for something a little bigger also. Good luck to you, and have fun with your new bike!!
