Jacket sizing

by jae
(salem, OR)

Thankfully to this site I stumbled upon the site LeatherUp.com and found some very cute pink jackets. But I'm curious about the sizing. They state the sizing for a 3x is a 16-18. They only go up to a size 5x which they consider a 20-22 to be.

Has anyone gotten a jacket from this site and how is the sizing? According to the chart I'd need like a size 8x!!

I also have to add that at the local motorcycle gear store a womans 2x was about 3-4 inches from zipping. Should I use that one as a guestimate of what I would wear?

Thanks for any advice or help :)

Leatherup

I have used Leatherup several times and find they have a great selection of just about everything. Check out their boots & Saddlebags too. I have found that even though I'm usually a size Medium that most jackets I have to buy a Large.

jacket

I found that jacket sizes run smaller than what I buy in a reg store. I just found one in a local store recently, about 2 sizes larger. I don't purchase on line because I always have to return. I also found that most of the cute styles only come in smaller sizes. I'm far from tiny, but I don't want to look like one of the guys.

One more thing
by: Dawn

I should have also mentioned the different types of leather. Make sure they are meant for riding and not just fashion jackets. Or know that you are buying something that isn't meant for protection.

I love pink and have bought a few different jackets over the years, but they will not stand up to much abuse. Goatskin is really thin and not very durable. If you are looking for protection, make sure it's cowhide or one of the textile ones.

I can be pretty cavalier about protection. Some days I may not wear any jacket. But I KNOW not to expect it to save my skin when I wear the pink leather. I wear it because it has more pockets than a cotton overshirt. (I know, I know, please keep your comments to yourself)

Leather up
by: Robin

I love Leather up, their customer service is fantastic, and I swear they ship the second you pay! They are awesome with exchanges if you happen to order the wrong size. I have a difficult time finding a good fit, and have always been pleased with what I bought from their site. One thing I would say is ALWAYS read the reviews on their stuff before you pick a size or buy. They are so helpful in what size to order.

Charts are accurate
by: Dawn

I have bought from LeatherUp and the charts are fairly accurate. They run really small, and the charts don't allow any wiggle room. If your measurement is a 40, and the chart says it fits
40 it will be snug, but will fit.

Depends on your preference, if you like fitted, go by the chart, if you want room, order one size up.

The stuff is nice, but they don't carry much for anyone who wears over a 12-14 in the real world. I wear a 16-18 or XL in the real world and had to buy a 4X here.

However, the men's sizes seem to be accurate to real world sizing. Hubby's jacket was an XL just like everything else he owns, and fits perfectly. Go figure.

Leatherup.com

Hi! I have ordered from leatherup.com and everytime I have been completely and totally happy. However their stuff does run really small. I have found their charts to be true to size for me every time. I would call customer service and see what they have to say. I am a happy customer.Good luck.

Leathers

Most of the time, leather gear runs small, and leather fits like a glove - form fitting! If there is any way for you to try on the BRAND you wish to buy, do it, even if you later order THAT brand on-line. If you cannot find a brick and mortar store, try calling the help line to ask for sizing help. Have your measurements at your finger tips. I have not actually ordered from this particular on-line outlet, but I HAVE had on-line phone staff go physically measure a jacket for me and call me back.

Good luck!
