I now ride a Victory Cross Country 8-ball. I had a sportser and a softball deluxe. I sincerely hope you went with a Victory.

2009 Victory Kingpin Low
by: Nana

I was looking to upgrade from my Suzuki Boulevard C50 a couple of years ago. I wanted something that be more comfortable for long trips and would keep up with the baggers in my group.

I looked at the Harley Switchback - but there weren't any used and the price tag gave me sticker shock. I liked the feel of it, though. Then the Victory dealer got the Kingpin Low on a trade-in. It only had 2,000 miles on it and they asked $8,000.

I LOVE IT! I just got back from a 1,500 mile 6-day trip and it was great. My back didn't hurt, my rear end didn't hurt and I averaged 45 mpg. I think Victory is a little less expensive on the maintenance than Harley. But I have friends who ride Harleys that wouldn't ride anything else.

I think you need to test drive to find out what you like best. The Victory is very well balanced and very easy to handle. Even for a 52 year old, 5' 3" grandma!

Victory Kingpin 2004
by: Carol

I own a 2004 Victory Kingpin . I love it. I have been riding for 10 years and am in my 50's. Was considering trading for something a little lighter but have changed my mind. I believe for the comfort Victory is the best.

Dreaming about a Victory
by: Paula

Lisa, I can't answer your exact question but I do have a little input. I have a Honda VTX1300 which I love and can keep up with any bike on the road. I bought it to replace my Honda Shadow VT700 for the same exact reason as you...to keep up! I have put almost 30,000 miles on it in five years and it definitely has the power and the comfort to go long distance. However, if I was in the market to buy, my eye is on the Victory Cross Country. I have a friend who just bought a Victory and he did a lot of research on them. He said they have a better warranty than Harley and fewer issues. You can't even find them for sale used because no one who owns one ever wants to get rid of it!
