Harley 1200L 2007
by Donna
The first time I rode my own was a 1200 Custom, 2005, when I was 32. I bought it from the overseas military sales while I was stationed in Iraq in 2004. I walked past the sales office every day on my way to the chow hall, and finally went for it. I spent about two months on the Harley site, in 15 minute increments, since that is all we were allowed, analyzing specs, and I even measured my arms and legs, and straddled things I thought were about the same height off the ground. Since I ordered it through overseas sales, I had to buy it sight unseen. Once back to Iowa, the bike was delivered to a local dealer. I felt about an inch tall walking into the dealership alone to sit on it for the first time, and everyone was looking at me, I just put on my big girl panties and sat on it and wondered if I could even straighten out the handlebars. I could. Then I had no clue what all the buttons and gadgets were for. Anyways, I learned. I traded that one in for a 2007 1200L. I put progressive shocks on it, and forward controls. Fortunately, my legs are long enough I don't need the mids, because I thought they were icky. Everything about the bike feels like it was made for me, yet I added very few mods. It's so light and comfortable, yet with just a little throttle I can blast past cars like they are sitting still.
