Finally Got Another Bike!

by Gale
(Sequim, WA, USA)

I wrote here awhile back asking for some advice, and appreciate what you all offered me. Yesterday I picked up a new (used) 2000 Suzuki Intruder 800. I rode it about 70 miles home--my first trip on a highway with 60 mph speed limit. I was totally comfortable, despite strong side winds and having to drive over the Hood Canal Bridge (grates)! The bike is nimble, easy to handle and (obviously) way more powerful than my GZ250 was. I couldn't be happier! My husband rode behind me on his Road Star and helmet cam--taking videos. It was a kick. I'll upload a photo of my bike when the weather improves enough to ride again.

Thanks again to all of you for your thoughts and suggestions.

Oh, btw, the bike specs say it weighs about 440 pounds dry, but the local truck scale indicates the bike weighed between 460-480 (the scale needle moved back and forth between these two numbers). The bike has no add-ons, had no saddle bags on it and less than a gallon of fuel in the tank.

Bike Weight

Congrats on the new ride!

Dry weight is a bike without any fluids. I don't know why manufacturers provide the dry weight since you can't ride a bike without any fluids - seems senseless to me, but perhaps someone can enlighten me.
