Considering a Sport Bike

by Laura
(Texas)

Hi!

I am currently a curb monkey and ride with my fiance on our CBR600RR, however, I've always been a tomboy and and in the market to get a new vehicle and am SERIOUSLY considering getting a bike of my own (a sports bike)...preferably either yellow/black or red/black. I know it would have to be lowered a bit because I am 5'3, I am have driven a sports bike before, but only a couple of times...so I would need some major practice and one on one time with it so I wouldn't get out there and kill myself.

Any ideas?

Laura

2009 Ninja 650
by: Anonymous

My first road bike was a Honda Nighthawk and last year I got a 09 Kawasaki Ninja 650r. Husband lowered it one inch (5"1) and I haven't looked back. I loved that bike but I'm waiting on my Ducati to come in. Can't wait.

Hi Laura, I'm 5'3 almost, I'm also 50 years old and I ride a Ninja 500. It's my 4th bike. I started with a classic style Suzuki 250 then had a Triumph Bonneville now besides the Ninja I also have a Moto Guzzi Cafe. As you can see I'm not a cruiser fan, I'd rather be leaning over than feet forward, that position hurts my back. Don't get me wrong, I have lots of friends who ride cruisers, it's just not my style. Whatever you choose, be safe and drive defensive.

Sportbike Yeah Baby

I have to say a Sportbike is the way to go....I am 5'10" so I started larger with a Ninja 600 and have changed to a Honda CBR600F or a Hurricane and love it.. I would not change to a cruiser for anything....

Sport Bikes!

Please do yourself a favor and start small. The Ninja 250 is perfect for this. Don't get yourself a 600 anything until you outgrow the 250, you're asking to hurt yourself.

just my .02

my two cents
by: Patti

I'm in the same situation as you. 5'3" and wanting a sport bike. I just went to the International Motorcycle Show and sat on a lot of bikes. What was comfortable for me as far as seat height were the Honda CBR205, Kawasaki Ninja 250, Suzuki GS500F, BMW F650GS, and Ducati Monster 696. As I have never ridden a sport bike yet, I'll probably first take a class specifically for sport bike riding to see if I really want a sport bike. If it ends up not being for me, I would not have blown tons of money on a bike that's not suitable for me. If I like it, then the door is wide open. BTW, I just got my endorsement in April and currently ride a Suzuki Boulevard S40. Good luck, be safe, and have fun!

Ninja 500

I went from a Vulcan 750 down to a Ninja 500 and have never been happier. This bike does it all for me...it handles like a dream and has all the speed I need.

Kawasaki Ninja 250 - New Style 2010
by: walthamgal

Hi,

The Kawasaki Ninja 250 - new style 2010 gives an awesome nimble ride. The BMW 650 is nice if you are taller than 5'5". I am short so I chose the ninja 250. They have it in red!

Start out small. Try the Ninja 250, they are small and low or the new Honda. BMW has the 800 with a 29" seat height.

Oh...you don't drive a bike, You RIDE a bike

Good luck,

Sport bike...ya gotta love em!
