Ride - don't drive - to post office, grocery store (few items), paying bills.... You get to ride and not feel guilty, since you are doing things that need to be done. It's good for child and Dad to spend some time together without you there. Everybody wins and you get practice riding. What could be better

Back in the Saddle after 20 Years
by: Tina Hauptman

I sure know how you feel, I rode in my 20"s then gave it up when I had Children. Well I am back, last year I bought a bike, rode all summer with the help of my husband by my side on his bike. This Spring I took the Motorcycle course and man am I glad I did. I am such a better rider now, and I have the confidence back that I needed to handle my bike. Plus I made some new friends that I will ride with this summer.. If you get a chance take a course it is well worth it.. Have fun and ride strong.

getting back riding
by: jp

Get a friend to ride with. Don't need a crowd, but having fun is part of taking care of yourself and you deserve it. I spent a couple of riding seasons wanting to ride but on my own and afraid and making excuses.
Once I met some other riders, especially other women riders, made a date and took off.
Now I ride solo or with someone but I remember those days.

Back in the saddle....
by: Mary

I have two children I leave with a babysitter (my sister) most weekends during the nice months...it's not a matter of finding excuses NOT to go, it's finding excuses TO go! If this is the only thing you do for yourself...do it! We working moms hardly ever get time to ourselves, take it when you can and don't feel guilty, a little daddy-son bonding time will do them both good, not to mention the good it will do you to get out alone once in a while!

No worries....
by: Erin

It's certainly a intimidating step to take. Don't worry - it's simply a balance of riding a bike and driving a car, both of which I'm sure you can do. My advice would be to start in a parking lot. In all honesty its the slow speed maneuvers that are most difficult. Cruising is the easy part! Practice short radius turns (both directions), fast braking, clutch control and etc. Here is a great blog full of some really good riding tips for us gals!
