Artificial Ponytail

by Dorimar Arroyo
(Orlando, Fl, US)

I've had this "dilemma" for a while now. How to balance the love to ride with a decent, somehow glamorous or at least acceptable hair do when on the road, after taking my helmet off. After many failed attempts, I came across with an "artificial pony tail" at a major "pharmacy / department store. Fairly cheap, about $15.00 dollars and "voila". With a little hairspray I found my solution. The ponytail can not be too bulky in order to fit under the helmet. I proceeded to make a tight ponytail of my own hair first and then wrap it like a "donut" with "bobby pins". Then I placed the artificial one on top and for extra sturdiness I secured it with bobby pins as well. Last, applied hairspray to the hair on top and the sides as well for it to stay in place, tight and prevent it from getting messy while removing my helmet. Good luck, I hope this helps you guys as it has helped me and I always receive compliments about it!

Love the idea! It's such a dilemma. I found having my hair straightened, then tightly braided makes nice waves after I take my helmet off...but I still have knots near my scalp.
