A Gift from Heaven
by Lynette Greenwald
My father passed away three months before I was born and he was really big into Motorcycles. He even attended Harley Davidson service school in Milwaukee, WI and him and my uncle owned a motorcycle shop. So I had always wanted a motorcycle but could never afford one. So on my birthday in 2002 my ex-husband bought me a raffle ticket for my birthday. He told me he had $17.00 so if I had $3.00 he'd buy me a ticket because they were $20.00. So I gave him the $3.00 and he bought me a ticket. As we were leaving the bar where the bike was being raffled he said don't you even want to look at the bike. So I went back in and looked it over and said it kind of looks like me don't it. It was a 1985 Sportster. So to my surprise, a few hours later my phone rang and the caller ID said Bob's Bar. I expected it to be my ex-husbands friends looking for him, but the man on the phone asked for me. He said this is Dan from Bob's and I asked did I win that bike and he said yes. I said are you messing with me and he said no it's yours, you won. I wasn't really sure if this was for real or not so we went up to the Bar. I was given a title, a manual and a key. It was a nasty rainy evening, my ex-husband asked me so now what do you want to do, I said take it home. He said it's raining outside. I said I don't want to leave it in a bar full of drunks and he said it's been sitting here for three months. And I told him well I've owned it for 20 minutes and were taking it home. So I won a Harley Davidson on my birthday and truly believe it was a gift from my dad up in heaven.
