A ball cap

I am not comfortable with any clips or ponytail holders under my helmet, I end up with a headache from the added pressure. So, I have several ball caps, but my go is the one that stays with my riding gear all the time. It is a fold up (it lays flat) black ball cap. As soon as I take off my helmet it goes on. I have shoulder length hair so my ponytail goes through the back and the mess hides under the cap. The one I really like is a girly girl denim with rhinestones and a silk flower. I feel so much better about my appearance when I have one on after 'helmet' hair.
