Let's face it - most of us know that when you ride - Motorcycle Skin Care is something to which you need to pay attention. The effects of the wind, even wearing a protective full-face helmet can result in rough, raw and painful facial skin, especially in cold weather.
I am always amazed at how much sun burn I can get on my face, even when wearing my helmet with the visor down - Whether it is a combination of wind and sun, the first few days riding each season leave me with a need for skin care protection products - above and beyond what I usually use.
Road Grime, Sweat and Dirt - Oh My!
In addition to the effects of sun and wind, you are also subjecting your face to more harm - just by exposing your skin to dust, dirt, exhaust from surrounding vehicles and my favorite - sweat. (Something for you younger riders to look forward to: The thrill of having a full-fledged hot flash while wearing a full faced helmet).
So, Here Are My Tips for Motorcycle Skin Care:
Never forget to wear moisturizer - the more the better.
Sunscreen is a must - the higher SPF the better.
Wash your face frequently on long hot days, and reapply moisturizer and sunscreen.
Blistex is a very very good thing to keep in your tankbag or jacket pocket.
I only wear minimal makeup if I'm going to be in a helmet for most the day.
If you and your "luggage" are traveling separately (like in a "princess van") keep your motorcycle skin care stuff with you.
I also tend to use better products when on a long motorcycle trip - more intensive moisturizer, and soothing moisturizing soap. It's one thing to be able to spend your days in the sun and wind - it's entirely another to look like you do! With a little planning, and some great products, you can master the art of motorcycle skin care.
