2001 Honda Shadow VT600CD

Over the last 4 years I have had a strong desire to get my motorcycle endorsement but never really had the guts to go for it. A close friend of mine, Kellie Murphy, really encouraged me that it can be done and I would have the time of my life if I just took the initiative and had confidence in myself. The only thing to lose was 225 and a lot of pride if I failed.

When I signed up for classes, I had already rode my husbands 2003 DYNA Superglide a few time in a school parking lot but only in first gear. His bike was SO intimidating and I never really felt comfy on it.

My training bike was a Suzuki 250... so small I felt like I was kissing my knees when I was riding it. I was SO determined to get it right the first time... but I failed. I didn't give up though, I went back for more torture! I was finally PARKING LOT certified, at the instructor told me I needed to practice OFF THE ROAD, in parking lots until I got it right.

That was in December of 2010. On Valentines Day, February 14, 2011 hubby surprised me with a 2001 Honda Shadow VT600CD.. FELL IN LOVE with her! I rode up and down my street for 3 weeks.

Then I called my bff and asked her if she would mind riding with me down to the local HD dealership about 7 miles away... OMG... what a TRUE feeling of freedom! I never wanted to get off of her.. I wanted to keep going!

I now ride her to work every day as long as there is no threat for rain. I look for places to go that's more than 50 miles away.. Other friends have taken me on winding roads. gone to events and am having more fun than I have ever had!
