Trails

Finding a place to is a huge challenge. I have some access to private land with permission, and in Connecticut we have the Thomaston Dam and a trail for registered dual-sports (which includes some street overlap) in a state forest in the southeast corner. Nothing at all for ATVs. I've been fighting the good fight as a member of the New England Trail Riding Association, and spin-off advocacy group Connecticut Trail Users (now defunct) for many years. I actually like doing the legislative stuff...met with state assembly people lots of times, testified at public hearings several times, but CTU ran out of money & NETRA picked up the slack.

I could go on and on about trails and access...but lets suffice to say its complicated. Most other states have at least some trails, but with off-highway-motorcycle and ATV ownership climbing every year, overuse of existing sites is a big problem, and getting new access is nearly impossible.
